The Video Collection rereleased several childrens shows that were previously under the Guild Home Video label, including "Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends" and "The Wind in the Willows". After suffering financial loses in 1995, it underwent an overhaul and had its name changed to VCI. It was the second home video company in the UK to release Thomas tapes after Guild Home Video.

In following the footsteps of Guild Home Video, they split Percy Runs Away and Coal over two tapes, just as Guild did with Thomas, Terence and the Snow and Thomas and Bertie. In doing so, the final Thomas tapes from both video labels had the start of the program altered to feature the nameboard sequence.
